Virgil Abloh's posthumous work 'LV x Nike Air Force 1 Monogram' is in metaZ
Virgil Abloh, the former art director of the Louis Vuitton Men's Collection, who died of cancer last November, left another collaboration that fascinated sneaker fans. It's Air Force 1, designed by Virgil Ablo in collaboration with Louis Vuitton and Nike. Only 200 pairs were released exclusively as a limited edition worldwide by auctioning them through Sotheby’s. All 200 pairs were sold for more than 100 million won, boasting tremendous popularity. Among them, the 230-sized product registered as the first product was about 420 million won, which was the highest bid, and became a hot topic again. Sneakers made in collaboration with Nike by Virgil Ablo are traded at a premium, which is unusually higher than previous releases.

Nike Air Force 1 Low Louis Vuitton Monogram Brown Damier Azur
The sneakers, which are drawing attention around the world, are decorated with Monogram and Damier patterns and natural cowhide piping, the symbols of Louis Vuitton. Virgil Ablo's signature Helvetica lettering was added on top of shoelace with the French "LACET" instead of "LACE" and midsole's "AIR." The 'Louis Vuitton Air' collaboration logo is engraved on the tongue, and the heel tab is also decorated with Louis Vuitton brand identity. Each pair came with a Louis Vuitton pilot case, also from the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 collection, which was reinterpreted from the Maison’s archive in an iconic orange colorway and made of Monogram Taurillon Leather. The pilot case features Louis Vuitton’s classic S lock closure in white metal finishing and includes a luggage tag in the shape of the Nike Swoosh.
Virgil Abloh, a genius designer born in 1980, died of rare cancer in 2021.
(1980. 9. 30~2021. 11. 28.)
Virgil Abloh is artistic director of Louis Vuitton's men's clothing and founder of Italian luxury brand 'Off-White'. A student of architecture who had never systematically learned fashion, he imprinted his name on the public while serving as the album art director for famous American rapper Kanye West. He has a special history of becoming the most influential person in the fashion world and was named one of 'Time' magazine's 100 most influential people in 2018. He is also famous for introducing the '3% approach' of creating a new design by changing 3% of existing creations. He is said to have set the stage for street fashion to be included as part of high-end fashion.
👟Interesting fact🌟
As Off-White gained popularity with the MZ generation despite its initial skepticism, many other brands besides Kanye wanted to collaborate with him, the most successful brand among them is Nike. The collaboration, which started in 2017 under the name 'Virgil Abloh X Nike The Ten Icon Reconstructed', has been steadily loved by many even after it was renamed 'Off-White X Nike'. After his death, resell price doubled, perhaps because of the idea that he could no longer meet Virgil Ablo's new product.
