MetaZ Art[Z] 'Memory Puzzle'

The MetaZ Showroom displays the 'Memory Puzzle' by lacquer artist Kim Jong-un.

Kim Jong-un is an artist who drew attention at the New York and Hong Kong Art Fair for expressing Korean lacquer as a modern work. In this exhibition, the artist interpreted the unfinished cracks in life as petals. The artist expressed the hope of continuing to complete the pieces in a puzzle format with the colors of petals. The traditional material called lacquer is reinterpreted in a modern way, and the invisible intangible pieces inside are created into one puzzle flower and expressed in various colors.

For the first time in Korea and abroad, a mirror was used as a material and a lacquer technique was used on it. ["Mirror" where you can face yourself as "I"] It expresses a fresh meaning. The material of lacquer, which may seem somewhat traditional, is a meeting with 'mirror', 'color', and 'mother-of-pearl', and it has been reinterpreted modernly with the addition of the meaning of 'memory puzzle'. The mirror series is a collage work that overlaps the work and its original appearance from the perspective of the viewer and finds traces of memories latent inside. It is receiving a lot of attention from visitors.

It's another fresh material, ceramic. Instead of the craft form of "ceramic" that we commonly think of, in this work, we used a planarization technique like a piece of "memory puzzle" on a petal. Flowers made of materials from nature are given meanings in the form of "memory puzzles," expressing that they are together in symbolic forms everywhere we breathe and live.

The exhibition runs until July 31. The 'Memory Puzzle' NFT can be purchased at OPENSEA [ArtZ by metaZ].
